Chili-Flatbread

Ingredients:

250 g Flour

125 ml Water

1/2 Packet dry yeast (3,5 g)

1/2 Teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon olive oil

1/2 Tablespoon chilli-flakes

1/2 Teaspoon paprika

Total time: 1,5 hours (including resting time for the dough)

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, paprika, and half of the chilli flakes using a spoon.

Add the olive oil and water bit by bit, stirring with a spoon every now and then. This isn’t to form the dough yet but in order to avoid a cloud of flour in the next step. Use an electric mixer with dough hooks to make a smooth dough, then knead on a flat surface using your hands for a few minutes, pressing down on and stretching the dough until it is elastic and begins to smell faintly of yeast. Place the dough in a bowl, cover with cling film and leave to rest in a warm place for one hour. Once the hour is up, preheat the oven to 200° Celcius (400° Fahrenheit). Place the dough on a sheet of baking paper and roll out thinly using a rolling pin – it should be as large as a regular-size baking tray and less than half a centimeter thin afterwards. Sprinkle the reamining chilli flakes on top of the dough and press them down into the dough slighlty with your hands. Prick the dough with a fork a few times, then place in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until it starts turing light-brown in a few places. Remove from the oven and cut into rectangles using a bread knife.
